Episode 28 - The Canadian
Sunday Aug 15, 2021
Sunday Aug 15, 2021
We are extremely excited this week to welcome our very first Canadian Armed Forces veteran, former MCPL Chance Burles. Chance, who also hosts the podcast Tools for the Toolbox, joins us to talk about his time in the Canadian Army, his time in Panjwai, and general perspectives on combat in the AO and how those experiences are relevant going forward. We had a great time debating whether Robin Sparkles is a national treasure or not, and whether Hockey is a real sport (Just kidding, both are obviously true). The Canadian story is a huge part of the military history of Panjwai, and we are excited to finally start down the road towards telling it.

Episode 27- The Tanker
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
On this week’s episode we sit down with former 19K and Bayonet Company veteran Adam Uhre. Adam has the distinction of being a member of the 2nd Platoon, B/1-64 at Sperwan Ghar in 2012. 2/B/1-64 were a platoon of Tankers (M1 Abrams Crews) attached to Bayonet for the 2012 deployment. The hilarity ensues early on as the Infantry vs Armor rivalry spills out of every topic we discuss, and we take some time to dive deep into the ideas of talking about our experiences, and what it is like to feel displaced after an intense experience like Combat. Adam really helped us navigate the discussion of telling war stories, and the unique challenges faced by being a Tanker in an Infantry Company in an Armored battalion, attached to an Infantry battalion out of Washington. On a light infantry deployment.

Episode 25 - The IED Game
Sunday Jul 18, 2021
Sunday Jul 18, 2021
On this week's episode, we sit down with a legend of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal community, Master Sergeant Russ Ho. MSG Ho served as an EOD Technician on multiple deployments, ultimately serving as the team leader for a three man EOD team at COP Sperwan Ghar in Panwjai in 2012. Russ talks to us about his experiences in the horn, as well as the months leading up to his move to Sperwan Ghar, where he and his team fought to stay one step ahead of the Taliban fighters emplacing IEDs along Highway 1. Russ talks about the challenges of the EOD field, the benefits, and how he somehow prefers digging IEDs out of the ground. Weird. You won't want to miss this interview!
